01 — Who we are

Gemetra is an independent research study of compatibility between people, conducted through the analysis of free-hand drawings.

The study is run by Olena Barsukova (operating professionally as Lena Bars), based in Switzerland. Olena Barsukova is the data controller under Swiss data protection law (FADP) and, for participants located in the European Union, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

02 — What we collect

When you sign up to participate, we ask for:
— A nickname — chosen by you. Your real name is not required.
— An email address — so we can send you the drawing protocol and arrange your feedback session.

When you participate, you send us:
— A photograph of a drawing you made on paper.

When you correspond with us, we keep the content of your emails and any notes from your feedback session.

In addition, our servers automatically record basic technical information about your visit (IP address, browser type, timestamps) — kept briefly for security and abuse prevention.

Providing this information is voluntary. If you choose not to provide it, you cannot take part in the study, but no other consequences follow.

03 — Why we collect it

We process your data on the basis of your explicit consent, given when you submit the participation form (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); equivalent provisions of Swiss FADP).

We use the data for:
— Conducting the research study — refining the method against documented cases, comparing findings across participants, and improving the reliability of analysis.
— Contacting you to schedule and run your feedback session.
— In the future, training AI models that can perform parts of the analysis automatically — using the same dataset you contribute to.

Final assessments are always reviewed by a human researcher. We do not make fully automated decisions about you.

We do not use your data for any other purpose.

04 — What we don't do

— We do not sell your data.
— We do not share your data with advertisers, marketers, or any other third parties for commercial purposes.
— We do not match your data against other databases or profiles.
— We do not use your data outside the research purposes described above.

05 — How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you allow us to.

You can ask us to delete your data at any time — see Your rights below.

If you stop responding to scheduling messages and we cannot reach you for 12 months, we will remove your email from active records. The drawing itself may remain in the research dataset in pseudonymous form — without your email or nickname attached — unless you ask us to delete the drawing too.

If a drawing has already contributed to training an AI model, the model itself cannot be "untrained" — but we can still remove your raw file and identifying information from our records on request.

06 — Who has access

Your data is accessible only to the research team. Currently: Olena Barsukova.

We rely on a small number of third-party service providers to operate the project:
— [HOSTING PROVIDER] — stores the data.
— [EMAIL PROVIDER] — sends transactional emails.
These providers act as data processors on our behalf and are bound by appropriate contractual safeguards. They do not use your data for their own purposes.

07 — Your rights

Under EU GDPR and Swiss FADP, you have the following rights:
— Access — ask what data we have about you, and request a copy.
— Rectification — ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date.
— Erasure — ask us to delete your data.
— Restriction — ask us to stop using your data for specific purposes.
— Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
— Objection — object to specific processing activities.
— Withdraw consent — at any time, without giving a reason and without affecting past lawful processing.
— Lodge a complaint — with your national data protection authority. In Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC); in the EU, your national supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these rights, write to info@lenabars.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.

08 — International transfers

Your data is processed primarily in Switzerland, which is recognised by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection. Transfers between the EU and Switzerland do not require additional safeguards.

If any of our service providers process data outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other appropriate safeguards required by GDPR and FADP.

09 — Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data — including access controls, encryption in transit (HTTPS), and limited data retention. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs that may affect you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

10 — Children

This study is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 years of age. If you believe a minor has signed up, please write to us and we will remove the data.

11 — Cookies and analytics

The site uses only technical cookies strictly necessary for the form to function (for example, to prevent spam submissions). It does not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or behavioural profiling tools.

12 — Changes to this policy

We update the date at the top of this page when we make changes. If a change materially affects how we treat your data, we will email participants whose contact we still hold.
